What Does Big Pharma, AMA and FDA Have In Common?
Usually we talk about gluten-free diets and what’s happening with Lindy’s Gluten-Free Goodies. However today we need to talk about why so many people are chronically ill. It may be that the food you eat and the medicine you may be taking is making you sick and keeping you sick, respectively.
I had read a report about what happened with Jenny McCarthy and how she worked with her son to find answers about his autism. Of course the big money pharmaceuticals, AMA, and “educated” lambasted her. However the proof should not be in the arguments but in the results. That is the scientific method is it not?The story about Jenny McCarthy and her son, who was diagnosed with autism has much merit. Fortunately for Jenny and her son, this mother took control of her son’s health. She found out that a natural holistic approach helped her son in such a way that he no longer has the symptoms of autism.
Is it possible that too many doctors are in league with Big Pharma? Is it possible that money is motivating health industry to keep people ill? I’m reminded of a line in an old movie starring Jerry Lewis. In the movie, The Disorderly Orderly, the hospital President says, ” we make our money robbing sick people.”
It is more than robbing sick people. There is so much profit in the drug companies that they can continue to keep people in the dark about why they are sick. Don’t look to the government for any help either. Politicians get a lot of campaign money from Big Pharma. Obama received over $150 million from drug companies for his campaign.
Furthermore, the FDA does not independently conduct investigations on the pharmaceutical companies’ claims. They rely on the drug companies to monitor their own research. That in itself should convince all of us, that there is a BIG problem. My husband Don has never trusted a doctor to be able to identify what is wrong with him. In fact, on several occasions when he went to see a doctor, he told them what he thought may be wrong. They agreed and charged him the full rate. One doctor admitted that he was looking for something much more exotic than a fallen arch. The doctor was actually thinking diabetes. We should remember that, we are best at monitoring our bodies.
If we have a negative reaction after eating, whether it is immediate or delayed we should do our own homework and try to determine what happened. It just may be that you and I are feeling tired or sick because we are eating foods that are making us sick and tired.
Too often instead of changing our diets, we swallow the advertising and use medicines that mask our problem instead of heal it. Imagine what would happen to the cost of health care insurance and medical treatments if most people were healthy. Can anyone spell, economic revolution! I for one am all for it. Doctors should interest their patients in the cause and cure of disease with a focus on wellness rather than treating symptoms.
When it comes to the BIG Three, ”Big Pharmaceuticals,” American Medical Association and Food and Drug Administration, Big $$$ makes them best friends.
Let’s start a real health revolution. Eat whole clean foods. Eat sweets in moderation and look at your body as a machine that needs preventative maintenance to run smoothly. Maybe it helps to know that being sick makes big money for people in the sickness business. Staying well keeps money in your pocket and that makes you feel better. I’m reminded of the old line, “If I’d known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself!”
Now go have a healthy and tasty day!

Greensboro News and Record
Here is a link to the article that the Greensboro News and Record wrote. Many thanks to Alexa Milan who wrote the report and to the photographer Joe Rodriguez. Also thank you to Greensboro News and Record for the opportunity to be featured. There are three recipes published in the paper. Several people called to sign up for the GF bread baking class.
I will also be doing a book signing at the Extra Ingredient in the Friendly Centre Shopping area on March 27, from 11:00 to 2:00 PM.
The class is so popular that it looks like I will be offering another class for bread making on April 17 and on April 24.
